Chelsea Primary School Outdoor Learning Garden

Funded in

Develop an outdoor learning garden and creative play space that provides an opportunity for school students to interact with and learn in nature. The space will be used as an 'outdoor classroom' during class hours, and as a creative play space during playtime.
In a 10m x 5m area use recycled logs as seating/stepping stones in a circular shape, with native plants bordering the outside. Using a mix of groundcovers, shrubs and trees to enclose the area and create a natural habitat to learn in.

The total project cost is… $1 155.52

The major costs
Plants - $780.56 (trees: 12 x $18.48; 10 x $11.50; shrubs: 40 x $4.04; ground covers and grasses: 70 x $4.04)
Topsoil - $196 (4m3 @ $44 per m3 plus delivery)
Mulch - $104 (2m3 @ $52 per m3)
Gardening products - $74.96 (Seasol 4L $32.98, Water Storage Crystals 2kg @ $20.99 per kg)
Recycled logs - donated
Labour - donated (working bee)

The $1,000 grant will be used to… purchase the majority of materials needed (plants, topsoil, mulch, Seasol and water storage crystals). See itemised list above

The remaining $155 shortfall is hoped to be achieved from fundraising at a Masters BBQ sausage sizzle (booked for 10th October 2015) and some donations of plants (from local businesses & families)
