Park Orchards Primary School - Re-establish the Vegie patch

Funded in

At Park Orchards Primary School we would like to re-establish our vegie patch with a more formal structure allowing better access for all our students including those with special needs. We want to build raised garden beds and sturdy paths, planting vegetables and fruit trees with the use of companion planting and also exploring bush tucker plants. The children will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty and learn how food is grown, achieving a sense of pride from what they have created.

The total project cost is… $3 050.00

The major costs associated with the project are…
Timber Sleepers $1600
Compost/Soil $400
Pathways $400
Greenhouse $300
Plants $200
Lucerne $150

The $1,000 grant will be used to… purchase the greenhouse, compost/soil, plants and lucerne.

The remaining funds will be raised by the selling of a students inspired cookbook and selling produce from the vegie patch.

Having spent time in this vegie patch with the students I can honestly say this is a worthwhile project that needs the funding to be more complete. Well done POPS, and all the Best with this application!

The school vegie patch is in need of a facelift. This grant will certainly assist! The students really love getting out there and learning by actively working in the garden and enjoying the rewards of their labour :)
