Revegetation of Mt Eliza Secondary College boundary abutting Mt Eliza way

Several years ago, native vegetation was controversially cleared from the school grounds along Mt Eliza Way.I want to revegetate a 150 metre x 4 meter embankment that runs inside the fence. Benefits of greatly improved local amenity would extend to the school community, soccer families who frequent the site and local residents.Plants would be sourced from the councils indigenous nursery.Students from the Hands on learning program will work one day a week to complete this job by years end.

The total project cost is… $2 000.00

The major costs associated with the project are…
Item 1 $1000.00 for weed mat which is already installed by the school.
Mulch which we get for no cost which has been already been spread by the soccer club.
Item 2 $1000.00 for 571 various indigenous plants @ $1.75 each comprising of 150 grasses,100 ground covers,100 shrubs,100 small trees and 100 larger trees.

The $1,000 grant will be used to purchase the plants from the Frankston Indigenous Nursery.

I think this sounds like a worthwhile activity. I know that the college could use the injection of funds by the Leader newspaper.

Mt Eliza secondary college staff are very dedicated to their students and they do amazing things for all the students in their care. They deserve success with this grant for the much needed revegetation project!

As a local resident I know how important this additional recreational land is to the young people in our community. This grant will give the school the opportunity to re-establish native vegetation, and to involve the next generation of young people in environmental care.
