The Gathering Place Sensory Garden
Our plan is to develop a special meeting place within our school community that includes a sensory herb and flower garden, a trail and recycled plastic seating. The purpose of the project is to connect children with each other and immerse them in the wonders of our natural world. The bench will be designed by children following an environmental theme "Healthy Places Makes for Healthy People". Planting and laying of the trail will be undertaken by students and families within our school.
The total project cost is $1 488.00
The major costs associated with the project are
Item 1 Recycled plastic seating designed by children $888
Item 2 Stepping stone winding pathway $350
Item 3 Bright flowering plants, scented plants and herbs $250
Design, layout and labour willingly volunteered by the school community.
Total cost: $1488
The $1,000 grant will be used to purchase the recycled plastic seating at $888 and native plants to the value of $112.
The remaining $588 dollars will be raised through donation from the school community collected on special fundraising days that celebrate the environment, and our community at St Peter Julian Eymard.
