The Incredible, Edible, Pickable Playground

The instillation of The Incredible, Edible, Pickable Playground galvanises our whole school commitment to sustainability. The project involves all Findon Primary students with the inspiration and application to lead a healthy, lower food print existince and our learning for life philosophy.
Transforming a school courtyard with existing garden beds into a bountiful place of beauty and enjoyment provides a place of relaxation, curriosity, ecological responsibility and appreciation.

The total project cost is… $2 037.00

The major costs associated with the project are…
Organic compost and top mulch $490
Miniature fruiting trees $410
Fruiting plants, canes and bushes $210
Materials for out door harvest and season calendar $120
Garden lunch club equiptment wall $180

Edible shade corridor (kiwi fruit house)$350

The $1,000 grant will be used to… purchace edible foraging trees, plants, canes, shrubs, organic compost and garden club materials.

Through donations of goods and kitchen garden funds. Also we have nine chickens on site that lay 45 eggs per week that we may sell surplus eggs to aid the project.

This is a great initiative. Gardening and sustainable living are fundamental for the future of the planet. Kids need to be taught from a young age to take care of the environment and skills to provide for themselves and their community.
