For the Culture, Dandenong High School

Providing a safe space for young people with African backgrounds to meet in their school community, teach others about their culture, share stories of growing up an African Australian, and engage in activities that assist them to embrace their culture. Such as dance and drum lessons, and crafts. We also hope to invite guest speakers to talk with our young people about their experiences and careers. They will be mentored by CMY volunteers from different demographic and cultural backgrounds.

The major costs associated with the project are

Payment for craft necessities (e.g. fabric, and materials), for trained people to come and teach skills (e.g. dance and drum teachers). We would also like to purchase a speaker for sharing music, and hope for guest speakers to attend also.

The $1,000 grant will be used
