We have a school garden, currently operated by a parent representative. Our wish is to raise the profile of our garden and activate more families/students to think and be healthy. At School of the Good Shepherd we hold lunch time clubs, we would love to harvest our fresh ingredients and make food for our families in need, soups to care for staff and students struck by illness in the winter months and share with the local residents at our neighbouring nursing homes.
The major costs associated with the project are
Major costs would include: - Buying new gardening equipment - Fruit trees and seeds - Cooking equipment/utensils
The $1,000 grant will be used
We would really like to spend a portion of the grant money on hiring a guest speaker to visit and discuss the benefits of natural foods in our diet. As a means of kick-starting the program, we feel this would benefit our families and increase involvement and longevity of the lunchtime club.
How they raise the rest of the funding
We intend to survey our school community and ask for donations for our program.
