Installing a Human Sundial at Moonee Ponds Primary School!
A human sundial is a unique & interactive way for a person to tell the time without a clock. By standing on the appropriate marker on the ground (based on the current month), a shadow is cast on a numbered marker, telling the time. The installation of a human sundial at our school would be a fabulous inclusion to the playground, & would provide a fun educational opportunity for current & future students. Being an open-access school, the local community would also benefit from this unique feature
The major costs associated with the project are
The major costs associated with this project include: - $500 for materials (marked pavers) - $1000 for installation costs (installation of the pavers must be exact to ensure the accuracy of the sundial)
The $1,000 grant will be used
The $1,000 grant will be used to contribute towards the purchase of the marked pavers and their installation at the school.
How they raise the rest of the funding
The remaining funds will be raised by the school’s Parents Association, a committed group of parent volunteers, at various upcoming events such as an end-of-term student lunch and a trivia night.
