Meals for parents of premature twins and triplets – (NIMBA)
Parents of twins and triplets not only face the challenge of raising more than one baby at once – close to 60% of babies will be born premature with an increased risk of time in hospital. The Northern and Inner Multiple Birth Association (NIMBA) would like to deliver a week’s worth of meals to our families with premature babies. Simple things like not having to cook dinner can make a big difference to the lives of parents going through what can be a stressful and traumatic journey.
The major costs associated with the project are
Purchase of food, preparation and delivery of meals to 50 families with premature multiples. Volunteers will be given $30 to contribute to their cost of preparing 7 meals for each family. Our families live in northern and inner Melbourne and volunteers will cover the cost of delivery (eg. fuel).
The $1,000 grant will be used
The grant money will be spent on the purchase of food for 33 families. If required, meals can be frozen for future use to ensure families receive meals within the grant timeframe.
How they raise the rest of the funding
Fundraising by members will be used to cover the remaining meal costs. Volunteers may also elect to donate the cost of the meals they prepare.
