Multi Playgroup – social connectedness and resilience (Diamond Valley Multiple Birth Association)
Provide support & social opportunity for families of multiples (twins, triplets & more) attending weekly Epping Playgroups. Run by the NFP support group – Diamond Valley Multiple Birth Association (DVMBA) for the benefit of multiple birth families.
Playgroups allow toddlers & pre-school multiples to meet & play while their parents have a cuppa & chat. Parents with infant multiples come along to socialise, strategise & find solutions to difficulties they may be facing with their multiple babies.
The major costs associated with the project are
Cost = 40 weeks x $20 per hour x 2 hours per week = $1600 (52 weeks per year, minus 2 weeks per term break and 6 weeks over Christmas/New Year) Plus coffee, milk and biscuit allowance of $15 per week = 40 x $15 = $600 Plus art/craft supplies allowance of $10 per week = 40 x $10 = $400
The $1,000 grant will be used
If we are successful in our grant application, the $1000 will go directly towards the hire cost of the Epping Community Activity Centre.Whilst it is available to us at a not-for-profit community group rate, we receive no direct government or other funding and therefore rely on grants and fundraising for all our support activities and events.
How they raise the rest of the funding
We have successfully run our weekly Epping Playgroup for years and rely on fundraising activities and a small weekly charge of $5 per family attending in order to cover costs.The remaining $1600 will, therefore, be covered by the $5 per family attending each week, along with fundraising activities.If we are successful in obtaining the $1000 grant, this will relieve a lot of pressure on our voluntary committee of parents who run the not-for-profit Diamond Valley Multiple Birth Association as the vital self-help and support group that it is.
