Remembrance Garden – St Mary’s Primary School

In our school community 4 families have lost a parent in the last 2 years. The eldest siblings in each family decided to get together to do something to honour their loved ones. As part of the Gallipoli Oak Project, our school was allocated a Gallipoli Oak Seedling. As the Gallipoli Oak is in honour of the ANZACS, we discussed with the students that we could remember their parents in the same way and honour them all with a Remembrance Garden, with the Gallipoli Oak as the centre piece.

How they raise the rest of the funding

Our students have already begun raising funds by selling 'Zooper Doopers' every Wednesday at lunchtime. They will also have a couple of cake stalls throughout this term and next and a gold coin donation day. Our entrance arbour will be donated by a school family along with several plants.
