Sprouting Sustainability at Friendship Square Childcare, Cheltenham

Our vision is to become a fully sustainable childcare & kinder, integrating the ResourceSmart School program. By embedding sustainability into the everyday lives of our children, behavior change will flow to the community; from kids to their parents, from educators to their families.
We’ve designed 3 projects to kickstart our campaign. Help us keep our promise to the planet!
1. Responsible Recycling with the EcoBin system
2. War on Food Waste & Plastic in the kitchen
3. Organic Onsite Garden

The major costs associated with the project are

The major costs for the three projects are: 1. EcoBins designed for Childcare Centres to separate waste & instructional posters throughout the centre 2. Initial setup to eliminate disposable items from our kitchen eg. compostable gloves, glass jars for storage of bulk food, biodegradable eco-friendly cleaning items 3. Setup of vegetable garden to be maintained by existing water tank

How they raise the rest of the funding

As a not for profit centre, we have a dedicated committee of parents who will fundraise for any extra incidental costs. Our quarterly working bees will be used ensure our projects are up and running quickly.Our 3 & 4 year old children will be given responsibilities to maintain these programs. Grassroots education will ensure we 'Sprout Sustainability at Friendship Square!'
